One of the fixtures at Il Cinema Ritrovato is the programme '100 Years ago'. One of the masterpieces of 1922 was Salomé by Charles Bryant and the Russian-born film and theatre actress, screenwriter, and film producer Alla Nazimova.
Nazimova (1879–1945) was a grand, highly flamboyant star of American silent cinema. On Broadway, she was noted for her work in the classic plays of Ibsen, Chekhov and Turgenev.
