Fellow Democratic lawmakers asked the head of the Westchester County Board of Legislators to step aside on Monday for her initial handling of allegations that an aide had been caught in an underage sex sting.

In a public rebuke a little over a week after the scandal erupted, the majority caucus issued a statement saying its members had lost faith in Catherine Borgia's leadership of the 17-member board and urging her to resign as chairwoman.

"While she has been a leader that has guided us through historic and life-changing pieces of legislation, we have lost confidence in her ability to lead this body and the staff that supports it," the statement read.
