125th ANNIVERSARY BOAT FLOTILLA (and History Talk) Facebook
The Croton community is invited to explore the Croton River in a floating parade hosted by the Croton 125th Anniversary Committee. The event will start at 11 a.m. Boats will launch from Echo Canoe Launch, paddle up to Fireman’s Island, turn around, and stop at Mayo’s Landing for a talk by Croton Historian Marc Cheshire about the flour and iron mills, the covered wooden bridge that once soared above the river and the Deep Hole below it, plus Prohibition-era raids on the Nordica Drive speakeasies and a few ghost stories.
The flotilla has a 50-person cap for safety purposes. Bring your own boat or rent one. Each boater must register individually. Registration is $10 per person, and includes lunch. Click the link below to register and for additional details. https://www.crotononhudson-ny.gov/croton.../events/70016
