Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, previously a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, has introduced legislation to empower the police and combat organized retail theft in response to a surge in crime.  The Addressing Crime Trends Now Act (ACT Now) aims to support communities, hire and retain qualified officers, and hold criminals accountable.  The legislation targets organized retail theft, makes it illegal to wear masks during robberies or assaults, and reinstates the police department’s ability to address open-air drug markets.Democrat Mayor Flips On George Floyd Police Reforms (msn.com)
