VIA THE CROTON FD FB PAGE--EX-CHIEF JOSEPH FIORITO

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Just received word that.......MAY 21---VIA THE CROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT FB PAGE: It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Ex-Chief Joseph Fiorito, a 79 Year member of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Joe is the Uncle of Ex-Chief Marty Fiorito as well. (Photos at Facebook and Facebook).

Joe joined Chemical Engine Company No. 1 on December 11,1944 and later transferred to Harmon Engine Company No. 3 in February of 1954.
While in Harmon Engine, Joe served as Vice President, Westchester County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Delegate, Company Secretary, Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant and Captain,
In 1961, Joe began his ascent up the Department’s Executive Ladder and was elected to Second Assistant Chief, then First Assistant Chief in 1963 before taking the position of Chief of Department in 1965 and 1966.
Joe also served as a Village of Croton Trustee for a period of time. Over the years, despite moving to Florida, he remained a vital part of Harmon Engine Company No.3 and would always look forward to the company’s gathering in Lake George each year, which he happily attended last year.
All arrangements for Ex-Chief Joseph Fiorito will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived.
