FALL IS TIME TO SURVEY FOR SPOTTED LANTERNFLIES

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Fall is a great time to survey for spotted lanternflies (SLF) – some adult lanternflies will linger until the first hard frost, and you may find their freshly laid egg masses that will overwinter and hatch into next year’s generation of lanternflies.

If you want to learn what these insects and their egg masses look like, and what you can do to help track them across New York, tune into the upcoming iMapInvasives webinar on September 18 at 1pm. As the official invasive species database for New York State, iMapInvasives works closely with state organizations like the DEC and the Department of Agriculture & Markets to collect and organize SLF data, provide public outreach, and help prevent the spread of SLF to new areas.
