FOR HARMON YARD, BILLION-DOLLAR MAKEOVER IS JUST THE TICKET

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

RIVER JOURNAL-----Trains have been stopping in Croton-on-Hudson since before the Civil War, when the first station was completed along the river in 1849. In 1903, electric trains started running from Grand Central Terminal, with Croton chosen as the spot where they would switch from electric to steam power to continue north to Poughkeepsie. That was the first iteration of the Harmon Shop – which over the decades has grown into a 400,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility employing 1,200 people.
