SILVER LAKE CROTON 1943

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

SILVER LAKE, 1943--courtesy of the Croton Historical Society fB Page--click on the photo--This group of photos shows a swim meet sponsored by the Lions Club in 1943. Silver Lake was originally located in deeper water, upstream from its present location. There was a diving board, a sliding board that went into the water, and two floating platforms.
These photos were taken by Bud Haley (1897-1988) who lived on lower Mt. Airy Road. He was the chief stained-glass window designer for the Rambusch Decorating Company in New York City from 1931 to 1968. He designed windows for many churches and buildings, including the Roman Catholic Chapel at Yale University and the Post Chapel at West Point. He was a World War I veteran and attended Cooper Union and the Art Students League. see another photo at (1) Facebook and (1) Facebook

PLEASE NOTE--COMMENTS ABOUT THE VILLAGE ID REQUIREMENT FOR SILVER LAKE, INCLUSIVENESS, "PRIVILEGE", ETC., WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DELETED.
