--We love finding old Christmas photos and ads--and every now and then we find one that has the old putz houses we so love so much. Click on the photo to see just such an example--this family photo complete with FLOCKED TREE, Gurley candles and a cardboard house, from our Flickr friend Imldolz, who believes it is from the 50's, all rights reserved.

--The late Tom Hull sent us a link to an old film---a few years back------The very first film production of 'The Night Before Christmas' made by the Edison Manufacturing Company released on December 16, 1905. Directed and filmed by Edwin Porter, staring Harry Eytinge as Santa. The audio track was added some time later which appears to be cylinder recordings from about the same time period, with the exception of "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear". The lyrics to "Silent Night" are also different than what is now traditionally heard, which I believe what is presented hear on the cylinder recording are the actual original lyrics written by Joseph Mohr in 1816. Transferred from 30 year old VHS tape which also contained the later added audio track. See it at THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS ~ THOMAS EDISON FILM ~ 1905 (youtube.com)
