American Legion Fox Eklof Post 505 from Croton on Hudson showed their appreciation and gratitude to the Croton on Hudson ShopRite Organization for supporting Veterans and being a Platinum sponsor of the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. The Hudson Valley Honor Flight provides two flights a year, one from Westchester, and one from Steward Airport to Washington DC. They provide all the necessities for the Veterans, medical assistance, meals, and guardians. The estimated cost for each flight is approximately $135K.
Under the leadership of Manager Grace Richards, every year for three months her team, department managers, associates, and cashiers solicit customers daily for donations for the Veteran's Campaign. In addition to Hudson Valley Honor Flight, the campaign supports other Veteran Organizations; My Brother Vinny, Vet2Vet, Orange County Food Pantry, and Families of Iraq Vets. In addition, Mrs. Richards coordinates a golf outing and a Pocket Book Bingo to raise money for the campaign.
On September 26, 2024, 1st Commander Mr. Thomas Tex Dinkler and 9 other Veterans from Fox Eklof Post 505 presented Grace Richards with a Plaque thanking her and the organization. Also, Adjutant Joe Martinelli presented the team with a picture frame with a photo of Veterans and ShopRite employees taken on June 15, 2024, in front of the store during a ShopRite ceremony showing ShopRite presenting a ShopRite Award to Commander William Tuttle and Adjutant Joe Martinelli with a check of $5K.
In conclusion, Fox Eklof Post 505 provided everyone with pizza for lunch.
