CENSORSHIP IN CROTON: PART TWO

Welcome to The New Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Censorship in Croton: Part Two
A Chronicle Editorial on censorship of speech at village meetings has now itself been censored on village Facebook groups.

Michael Balter

Subscribers to The Croton Chronicle will have received a post this morning about events at a housing “information session” last evening at the village municipal building, and attempts to silence a resident from speaking his mind about the issues being discussed.

Shortly after the Editorial was published—and we had posted it on several village Facebook pages as is our custom—one or more individuals fraudulently reported it to Facebook as supposedly violating the site’s rules. Facebook promptly took it down.

We have appealed this decision, but it will take up to four or more days for the appeal to be processed.

In the meantime, we would ask subscribers to copy the link to the post and share it widely with your friends and neighbors (the link has the updated version with the video recording of what happened at the meeting.)
