FBI ARRESTS NASIR AHMAD TAWHEDI, AFGHAN MAN WHO OFFICIALS SAYS PLANNED ELECTION DAY ATTACK IN US

WASHINGTON — The FBI has arrested an Afghan man who officials say was inspired by the Islamic State and was plotting an Election Day attack targeting large crowds in the U.S., the Justice Department said Tuesday.  Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was arrested after the FBI discovered that he had been stockpiling automatic weapons and had taken steps to liquidate his family’s assets. Censorship in Croton: Part Two
A Chronicle Editorial on censorship of speech at village meetings has now itself been censored on village Facebook groups.

Michael Balter

Subscribers to The Croton Chronicle will have received a post this morning about events at a housing “information session” last evening at the village municipal building, and attempts to silence a resident from speaking his mind about the issues being discussed.

Shortly after the Editorial was published—and we had posted it on several village Facebook pages as is our custom—one or more individuals fraudulently reported it to Facebook as supposedly violating the site’s rules. Facebook promptly took it down.

We have appealed this decision, but it will take up to four or more days for the appeal to be processed.

In the meantime, we would ask subscribers to copy the link to the post and share it widely with your friends and neighbors (the link has the updated version with the video recording of what happened at the meeting.) THE ANNUAL REQUEST---AND NOW FOR THE HISTORY OF CANDY CORN...

Love it....hate it....Just as Peeps are most traditionally associated with Easter, Candy Corn is most traditionally associated with Halloween.

It has had, however, a fascinating history; read all about it here.

On another note, residents recall their parents buying everything from Trick or Treat bags to Collegeville Costumes at Pop Berger's, the Grand Union, Woolworth's in the Beach Shopping Center, or Elliott's......
