New York and 13 other states on Tuesday sued TikTok, claiming the social media platform is harming youth mental health with addictive features, dangerous viral videos and beauty filters.

New York Attorney General Letitia James and 13 other attorneys general claimed TikTok violated state laws by falsely claiming its platform is safe for young people, according to the lawsuit. They also accused the social media platform of endangering young people with dangerous TikTok challenges, including viral videos showing how to steal Kia and Hyundai car models.
